Affordable Art: 20 Unique And Budget-Friendly Sources To Transform Your Space

This will likely be the first of MANY posts dedicated to art sourcing. I'm an art fanatic. And while I lust after art out of my price range, over time I've developed a pretty great list of sources of fun, unique, and interesting art sources to make your walls sing without blowing your budget! For this post I've mainly gone with new sources, but I'll do another post soon on sourcing vintage through auctions, etc. Read on for more.

1. Erin Armstrong

Erin’s work is absolutely gorgeous and makes me stop and think. Her colors are dreamy. While her originals are a little out of my budget at the moment, her limited edition prints are within range and I need one now!

2. Sebastian Curi

Sebastian is a delightfully colorful animator and illustrator. Same price situation here. His originals are likely a little out of budget, but I am so into his prints. So fun and vibrant. I’m eyeballing the Rock Paper Scissors print below for my son’s room.

3. Kara Rosenlund

Kara is an Australian fine art photographer and her work is so beautiful and makes such a lovely statement piece. As a flower fanatic, I’m particularly fond of her “Best in Show” collection, which is an ode to Dahlias (Lillian hangs in my bedroom), but she also has absolutely stunning landscapes and seascapes.

4. Lauri Hopkins

Lauri’s work crosses disciplines but primarily involves painting, collage, and the re-assembling of discarded materials. She has an extensive collection of prints that are just incredible.

5. Art Folks Gallery

Art Folks Gallery sources and shares European vintage art. They have some really beautiful stuff, but it sells quick, so follow their Instagram and be ready to jump on a piece that you like.

6. Joanna Goodman

Joanna’s “Catalog of Imaginary Beings” is everything. Seriously – if you are in need of a fantastic statement piece that doesn’t break the bank, this is it. Her work hung in our Brooklyn living room for years, and now hangs in our den/playroom in Connecticut. Both pieces have brought me so much joy.

7. Kelly Anna London

I have been such a fan of hers for years. Kelly Anna is a London-based artist and designer who is known for her powerful silhouetted figures with a strong focus on movement, sport, and wellness. Her pieces have so much strength and energy. One of her prints also hung in our living room in Brooklyn for years and now has a special spot in our den/playroom. I’ve also gifted one of her prints to a friend and it now hangs in a place of honor in their home. 10/10 recommend if her vibe is your kind of vibe. She has also done some fun fashion collabs and sculptural work (and I love all of it!). Note to self: her new charcoal and chalk prints are gorgeous and seem to be selling like hotcakes.

I’m considering some of Amanda’s art for my daughter’s room. I love her fun colors, her messages are great, and there’s a beautiful rawness to her approach. Her prints are super affordable and even her originals are within reach.

Big go-to for me. Paper Collective features beautiful and affordable art prints that feel unique and elevated. One of them currently hangs in my living room.

13. Enikő Eged

I’ve been really enjoying Enikő Eged’s work on PSTR Studio. Another one I’m considering for a kid’s room (but could certainly work in a grown up space as well).

14. Hilma Af Klint

Hilma af Klint was a Swedish artist and mystic whose paintings are considered among the first abstract works known in Western art history. Her pieces are incredible and inexpensive prints can be purchased from a number of sites like Postery and Desenio. I’m not sure yet which has the best quality, but will update back here if/when I find out.

16. Wrong Shop

Wrong Shop is an online platform selling limited-edition prints, posters, and objects by notable designers and artists from around the world. Their collection isn’t vast, but I’m particularly into a couple of their artists: Ronan Bouroullec and Nathalie Du Pasquier.

18. Blakely Made

Blakely’s paintings are fun and joyful and particularly lovely for a coastal home. I love how she describes how she sees the world: full of color in unlikely places.

20. Sigrid Calon

Sigrid Calon is a Dutch artist whose colorful, graphic work is simply delightful. I have two of her pieces and absolutely adore them (see the picture above in the Kelly Anna London section, Sigrid’s work is to the left). Her prints are super accessible in price. Highly recommend. Her Coded project is also really cool if you have a little more budget.
